Lexico-grammatical representation of GOOD/BAD TEACHER contrast in the movie "Matilda"

The representation of GOOD/ BAD TEACHER is not new in the context of modern movie discourse. Nevertheless, all researches devoted to this topic, investigated this concept from the point of view of cinematography, while from the linguistic, namely lexico-grammatical perspective, the concept remains poorly studied. The aim of this research is to define which lexical and grammatical peculiarities are used for representing the contrast between GOOD and BAD teachers in the movie Matilda, directed by Danny DeVito in 1996. Our initial hypothesis is that lexico-semantic peculiarities of the contrast GOOD/BAD TEACHER are represented through certain grammatical means.
In the research methodology, we processed the dictionary definitions of GOOD/ BAD TEACHER, defined the key aspects used to explain these concepts, analyzed the script of the movie, using a “Checklist”, as a tool, presented by Geoffrey Leech and Mick Short’s (2007), mainly focusing on the lexical and grammatical categories.
